LIVE TRACKING LINK: https://maps.findmespot.com/s/00XK
AB4960 is coming! This outrageous adventure is scheduled to embark on Sunday August 24th. Here are the highlights:
What: An epic 1800 km road bike ride by 5 quite possibly insane athletes from the bottom of Alberta (49th parallel) to the top (60th parallel).

Who: Mervyn Hiebert, Scott Korbett, Guto Bellis, Daniel Hagen, and Keith Pushor
Why: The motivation for such an inconceivable undertaking has many layers, but the 2 primary reasons are to experience an AMAZING journey that by all accounts has never been done before; and to raise funds and awareness for ALBERTA SEARCH AND RESCUE. The fundraising link and info can be found here
https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/133481
Where: Starting at the Chief Mountain Border Crossing, pedalling up through the Foothills, Rocky Mountains, and Boreal Forest regions of our province, to the final destination of the Sixtieth Parallel Territorial Park.
When: Departing Sunday August 24th we are targetting to complete our journey in 7 days, with an additional 2 day return home.
Fun Facts:
-Accomodations will be a combination of tenting sites, a wilderness hostel, and highway motels.
-We will ride through all sorts of weather.
-The team will be cycling for 10-14 hours per day.
-There will be more than 12,000 m of cumulative elevation gain with most of that being in the first 4 days.
-Burning up to 10,000 calories per day food/hydration is key for refueling our “engines”. Energy snacks, restaurant meals, camp cooks, and gas station goodies will be on the menu.
